Martinez, CAAs a handicapped person myself, I was quite interested in this site when I saw the article in the Contra Costa Times. I became disabled in 1990 as the result of a traffic accident. I obtained a placard in 1992 when I lived in San Francisco and went to seminary in Berkeley. After getting the placard I was amazed by the fact that for two socially-aware and supposedly accommodating cities like SF (...) View more

walnut creek, CAI have to say, this site has me conflicted. I am considered handicapped. I had my hip replaced 3 years ago and although I no longer need to use my cane anymore, if I have a really rough day or if the weather is bad, or my hip really hurts, those might be days I use my handicap sticker. I am young (35) with 3 children and my only visible sign is my limp. I would be horrified if someone started (...) View more

San Ramon, CAMy partner has disabled plates and has been harassed by self-appointed vigilantes because they "couldn't see the wheelchair." What they can't see are the scars from multiple surgeries and the arthritis in the other hip that is yet to be replaced. I have been with him when this has happened and I can tell you, it is emasculating enough to have the pain and disabilities (...) View more

n/a, CAi see that my bulletin was deleted less than an hour after i posted it.
this site intentionally deletes posts and information otherwise negative to the site?
i have copy/pasted what i wrote in response to the website and the stir it will cause by being in the media through the newspaper article. the top half is what is sent to the contra costa times, and the other one was posted on the (...) View more -

Livermore, CAMaureen Birdsall should certainly request more handicapped parking at the places she has to take her brother. There just are not enough of them. I think she is well-intentioned, but this idea of confronting, harassing, inconveniencing and embarrassing people is way out of line. If you are not the doctor who is treating the person, then you are not medically qualified to make a decision as to (...) View more

Lafayette, CAWhat's up with the HMO vs. PPO barrier to our preferred health care? It's a hot topic, and one we've all heard about - but may not understand completely. If you're familiar with the terms but not the restrictions, here it is in a nutshell:
HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organization. It is an organization of healthcare providers (e.g. doctors and hospitals) that have (...) View more -

San Francisco, CAHello everybody, I am new to this website / blog. I had to vent here in case the major A-HOLE who is harassing my fiance visits this website or worse, enters my fiance's information here fraudulently. Okay here is the story, my fiance was deemed handicapped by her doctor after she suffered major spinalcord damage when she was severly beaten by a bastard who car-jacked her in (...) View more

Cape Coral, FLAm so frustrated by a person sitting in a handicapped spot waiting for their partner to exit the store. I drive round & round waiting for a spot while (usually he) sits there reading the paper or doing the crossword. This should be illegal too.A handicapped spot should only be available to one person. The other person can wait somewhere in the parking lot & watch for their partner to (...) View more

Culter Bay, FLNew to site so I havn't reported any abusers yet, however since I see them all the time I'm sure I'll get a chance . I would like to know however, how to get lot owners to add new handicap spaces if not every year then every other year. I'm sure we've all had to either wait or park further away at times due to lack of spaces. As our population grows older and we (...) View more

Miami Beach, FLI was happy to read about this website in the Miami Herald yesterday. And I've ordered my sticky notes, too. Reading all the reports it's evident there are a lot of abusers of the handicap placard. But remember, not all disabilities are visible or evident. Case in point is COPD/emphysema. I have this chronic disease and when I knew it would be for life, I ordered a personalized (...) View more
